Our Story

After more than 14 years living in Ellensburg and serving as Pastor at Family Christian Center, Karin and I are preparing for our next adventure.

If you don’t know, we are fully empty nesters now. It is in this season that we sense God is asking us to make a transition of our own.

For years Karin and I have had a heart for missions and we’ve always said
that we would do missions if the Lord would ask us to. In April of 2024 God
made it clear that missions was indeed what He was asking us to do for
this next season of our lives. As a result of much prayer and conversation,
we have come to recognize that God is asking us to serve with a respected
medical missions organization called Mercy Ships. Mercy Ships “follows
the 2,000-year-old model of Jesus, bringing hope and healing to the world’s
forgotten poor.”

A year ago I was troubled to learn that, on the continent of Africa, there is one medical doctor for every ten thousand people, and that, only for those that can afford it. Due to this reality, it’s common in Africa for people to die of treatable conditions. Mercy Ships is providing free life changing surgeries along the coasts of Africa.

Karin and I will be serving for two years onboard the new hospital ship, the
Global Mercy, which is currently serving in Freetown, Sierra Leone. The Mercy Ships are made up of volunteers from all over the world who live and serve together. The crew of nearly 600 people often represents more than 50 nations of the world. On board each ship is an international academy that teaches the crew members’ children. Karin has accepted a position teaching in the Elementary School and I have accepted a position as the Senior Crew Chaplain. We feel this is a unique fit to both of our giftings and calling and are excited to serve together.

Curt & Karin Rosen
